Pure play BPO vs. Integrated BPO

Photo_priyanka_2Work culture, 24x7 quick money, SLAs and Internal Job posting...Attrition and high attrition rate, difficult MTIs and slack...The phrases are simple and simpler is the relation between them. The inevitable words are somewhere or the other the very part and parcel of a Business Process Outsourcing Organization.

But, here the play is limited not to a single character “BPO” but to two; Pure play BPO vs. Integrated BPO. The work culture in general and the SLAs definitely do not need a statement. However, the very obvious “vs.”/ “versus” bullet is the limitation to business a pure BPO offers and the vastness of enterprise an IBPO can serve.

Here, it can be observed though that all the modern KPOs are originally our good old pure BPOs”! But, when it comes to advancement of medicine, finance, training and research over the general practice of plain customer service of just speaking over the phone to say that the particular “cheque has been cashed”, it’s the Integrated BPO which scores the winning goal!
Consider an individual, a Bachelor in IT; a fresher for instance; neither a lay man in computers nor an expert technologist. The resource considers the pure IT industry as a career, then an integrated BPO as an option. He is reluctant to join a pure play BPO unless he possesses a strong urge for plain customer service. Under the heavy tags of ‘a part time employment’, ‘source of income for further studies’, ‘experience just does not count’, still hails the pure play BPO bringing the advantage of customer satisfaction, hence brand loyalty and thus a long list including big revenues and bigger profits to the biggest companies in the world.

Of course, the Integrated Business Process Outsourcing organizations have not come from the blue! Purely pure play BPO in origin and nature, the IBPOs have carved characteristics of their own. Right from employing the semi-skilled technicians, CAs to freshers from streams like Bio-Technology and diploma holders in Software or Hardware, the IBPOs have a great crowd following as it has proved to provide the right mix of career adeptness with great job satisfaction.

Statistics show that line of employment increase for an IBPO is longer than that for a pure play BPO. But, the employment revolution pure BPO had brought then, in the year around 2000, especially in the Asian countries has been unmatchable!

As a note of conclusion it can be said that “Once upon a time we lived in an IT era; then followed the BPO era! Where we breathe today is the BPO-xyz renniasance era...” of course, not an incorrect quote!!
