The 'L' Factor
"The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read & write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn & relearn" - - Alvin Toffler
This extends beyond the individuals like you & me...and applies to all social, geographical, political and organizational 'constructs' around us. Continual learning is a default dimension that is a pre-requisite to strive, survive and surpass. The business dynamics in an IT scenario are both multidimensional and global, which makes it imperative to learn and then adapt / adopt fast, or even real - time.
Patni has always been a learning organization; and that, has been the most positive aspect of my experience with Patni. The challenges and opportunities it offers is a 'sweet spot', as it maps the organisational, functional and my professional expectations. A non-existent technical experience and a non-IT functional experience when I joined in, has not been a deterrent in my successful contribution, thanks largely to the inherent flexibility a ‘learning’ organization provides.
The wealth of captive knowledge within the corporate is immense. multiple activities that I have undertaken have always had multiple interaction points - clients, top mgmt, business unit heads, geography leads and critical support leads. These knowledge based exchanges have assisted in a holistic understanding about the industry and co-structuring marketing communication solutions that are both relevant and creative.
As we move to IT enabled business solutions, marketing expectations are changing, which necessitates the need for rapid learning, unlearning and re-learning. As an adaptive learning organization, Patni has provided positive experiences that have helped many like me redefine our careers.
Challenging conventional wisdom and status quo is the key to success, especially in marketing. And its the 'L' factor that makes all the difference.
